Inter Religious Meet Organized at Patriarchal Seminary of Rachol
The LACARS (Literary And Cultural Association of Rachol Seminary) organized their annual Inter Religious Meeting on the occasion of the Gandhi Jayanti at its Auditorium, on 2 October 2022 form 3:00 pm to 5: 30 pm. The theme chosen for this gathering was, “Being Humane is being Holy”. The program was attended by various schools, colleges and people of other faiths who came from different parts of Goa. On their arrival, the participants were divided into four groups where they discussed on the questions : “First, How can Religious ideologies and traditions help in promoting welfare of humanity?.Secondly, what are the positive contribution of one’s religion in fostering Human Solidarity? The Rector of the Seminary, Rev Dr. Aleixo Menezes welcomed participants and declared the meeting open.The meeting was addressed by three key speakers representing Islam, Hinduism and Christianity. The said resource speakers; Ms. Ayesha Sheikh Mrs. Shamal Audhoot Kamat and Dr. Oscar Braganca de Melo enlightened the participants on the given theme from the perspective of their religious teachings and traditions. The program also included a prayer dance performed by the students from St Theresa’s High School Raia, a Konkani Skit by the Students of the Rosary College of Arts and Commerce, Navelim and a Bharatnatyam dance depicting unison of mind, heart and soul by the Devidas sisters. The unity act was performed by beating of the drum by a single stroke by each of the resource person symbolizing the uniqueness of the stroke and the universality of the sound. A pledge of communal harmony and the promotion of humane values was taken by all the participants. It was followed by the releasing of an encaged dove signifying the freedom from religious hatred and hostility to a life of peaceful and joyful humane co-existence among the people of different faiths . The program concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
