Literature award for Rev. Fr. Soccoro Rebelo
Konkani Bhasha Mandal, Goa recently celebrated its 60th anniversary. In the presentation of annual awards at a special ceremony held in Gomant Vidya Niketan, Margao, Rev. Fr. Soccoro Rebelo, Assistant Parish Priest of Our Lady of Grace Church, Bicholim was awarded with late Narsimha Damodar Naik award for Literature for his book titled ‘Khell Khellom-ia’.
The book ‘Khell Khellom-ia’ is a compilation of around 50 games meant for children. The games are beautifully explained by Rev. Fr. Soccoro. In this era of advanced technology, we hardly find children who indulge themselves in such worthy games. They are more engaged in their mobiles throughout the day. The games described by Rev. Fr. Soccoro are focussed on community building and fellowship. While reading the book, our memory drifts back to our childhood, wherein we used to play some noteworthy games. Towards the end of each game, a thought provoking message is conveyed, which is really worth reading and reflecting. The thoughtful messages also help us to analyse our lives. These games indirectly reflect on the several circumstances which we come across and the ideal way to deal with it.
