Day of Mass Media Apostolate Celebrated in the Archdiocese
The Archdiocese of Goa and Daman Celebrated Day of Mass media apostolate on 9th October, 2022. A Special celebration including Eucharist and short programme was held at Lar De Estudantes, Altinho Panaji, Goa, at 9.30am. The main celebrant for the mass the Vicar General of the Archdiocese, Fr. Jose Remedious Fernandes gave some practical points suggesting how we should use Mass Media and especially social Media in a positive way. He cautioned the participants saying the media is often used to promote personal agenda or create public opinions that are advantageous to those in power or for the benefit of business houses. Hence he invited them to critically analyse any message before believing it and verify the facts for any wrong information or fake news. He invited everyone to not just pay attention to sensational news but to information and news that promotes the welfare of the society. He asked all to be sensitive to others while sharing any information.He also invited the Priests and Laity to make use of all the services of the Diocesan centre for social communications media to impart Media education in their Parishes. He highlighted the need to educate ourselves in the properand safe use of media and invited everyone to use media for the betterment of the Society.
While thanking The Vicar general Fr. Barry Cardozo thanked and Conveyed the Best wishes of His Eminence Felipe Neri Cardinal Ferrao to all, as he couldn\’t make it for the celebration due to another important engagement. Fr. Barry also appreciated the work done by all his close collaborators and called upon all the faithful, priests and religious to work together for the betterment of society through media and create communion of communities.
After the mass there was a short programme in the hall and sharing of views and experiences. Fr. Rony Fernandes, Secretary cum Treasurer of DCSCM, Fr. Alfi D\’Cruz, Fr. Leo Fernandes, Executive secretary of Pastoral secretariat, the DCSCM Core committee and Animators were also present for the occasion.
