Apostolic Nuncios Visit to \”Asro\” and Asha Bhavan, Tivim
The Apostolic Nuncio Leopoldo Girelli along with His Eminence Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrão visited ‘’Asro’’ house (H.I.V. Community Care Centre) and Asha Bhavan (Home for Women in Distress, Senior Disabled & Intermediate Care) at Tivim.
At Asro His Excellency was welcomed by Fr. Maverick Fernandes, (Director of Caritas-Goa), Fr. Savio Fernandes (Secretary of Council for Social Justice and Peace), Fr. Mariano Silveira, (Parish Priest of Tivim), Fr. Walter D’Souza, the staff and inmates of the house were all present.
Fr. Maverick Fernandes welcomed the gathering and gave a brief report about the outreach programme that “Asro” conducts. He shared that until now more the 100 children affected by AIDS were given assistance and support. The children conducted a short cultural programme and enthralled the gathering. Fr. Savio Fernandes gave the vote of thanks.
Later on His Excellency was escorted to Asha Bhavan wherein after a warm welcome by the Sisters of the Mercy of the Holy Cross (SCSC), a cultural programme was conducted in honour of His Excellency. The visit ended with a brief interaction with the inmates and blessing by His Excellency.
