The Museum of Christian Art celebrated its 29th anniversary
The Museum of Christian Art celebrated its 29th anniversary on 23rd January 2023. To mark this occasion a formal function was held on 21st January 2022, attended by dignitaries and delegates from Portugal. The function was marked with a welcome address by Mr. Nascimento de Souza, Vice President of the Museum of Christian Art, an Address by His Eminence Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrao, and a speech by Dr. Gilherme d\’Oliveira Martins, Trustee, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. The formal function was followed by the launch of India\’s first Museum podcast series Altars of Time: A History of Goa through its Christian Art produced by Kevin Fernandes and Anirudh Kanisetti, recipients of the IFA – MoCA Creative project. The Foundation Project \’Altars of Time: A History of Goa\’ through its Christian Art is implemented by the India Foundation for the Arts (IFA) under the Archive and Museums program, with Anirudh Kanisetti as the Project Coordinator, in collaboration with the Museum of Christian Art, Goa. This has been made possible with support from Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan New Delhi and Parijat Foundation. Ms. Menaka Rodrigues, representative of the India Foundation for Arts marked the occasion with an opening speech. the podcast was launched by His Eminence Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrao.
The making of the podcast was presented by the co-creator Kevin Fernandes on 22nd January 2023 in the Church of Santa Monica, Old Goa. This session was followed by the launch of the book India, a story through 100 Objects by Vidya Dehejia. The author herself made a presentation on her writing and the journey. The evening concluded with Vivek Menezes in conversation with Vidya Dehejia, discussing the book and its literary aspects.
