On Saturday, 8th July 2023, the state of Goa under the joint organization of Council for Social Justice and Peace (CSJP) and State Unit of Conference of Religious India (CRI), held the ‘Prayer for Peace’; a peaceful gathering program summoning the people of the state to come together to pray and be witness to the brutality and treachery which is currently endured by the people in Manipur. The sole motive of the program was to call out for immediate peace in the troubled state of Manipur.
After praying and reflecting on the plight of the people in Manipur, candles were lit expressing our solidarity to all those suffering and for those victims who lost their lives in the unfortunate violence. The representatives of the program submitted a memorandum to the Centre appealing for the immediate restoration of peace and harmony in the disturbed state.
The Franciscan youth – ‘YOUFRA’ from Moddi- Navelim Unit, took part in the initiative expressing their support and empathy towards the agitated people. St. Francis of Assisi being the founder of the fraternity was an ardent observer and promoter of peace and goodwill, and the same is followed by YouFra. The youth group came together in support of the event with placards indicating the prayer of peace by St. Francis of Assisi. The motive to join the ‘Prayer for Peace’ was to pray for peace and justice for our brethren suffering in the state of Manipur.
