CCBI Laity Commission National Seminar 2023
From 11-13 November 2023 CCBI Laity Commission, organized National Laity Seminar, at the St. Joseph Vaz Spiritual Renewal Centre, Old Goa. With the Theme of the seminar being “The Role of Laity in the post-Synodal Indian Church”. His Eminence Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrão (President of the CCBI and Archbishop-Patriarch) Presided at the Inaugural Mass and gave the Keynote address in the Inaugural Session of the Seminar to all the delegates present.
There were many prominent speakers during the seminar giving sessions on various topics. His Grace Peter Machado (Archbishop of Bangalore and Chairman Bishop of CCBI Laity Commission) gave sessions on “The situation of Christians in India today” and “The response of the Institutional Church to the Situation today”. Fr Anthony J. Fernandes (Executive Secretary of the CCBI Laity commission) gave sessions on “Using the YOUCAT to empower the laity” and “Using the DOCAT to empower the laity”. Fr Paul Pudussery CSC gave 4 sessions, “Lay Leadership”, “Church in India – Past and Present”, “The Role of the Laity in the Post-Synodal scenario” and “The Way Forward”. Mr. Adrian Rosario gave a session on “A Lay perspective of the Church today”.
The Seminar was attended by 65 delegates from the various dioceses and regions in India.
