Hindi Diwas observed at St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa

With the aim to create awareness about Hindi and a sense of pride towards the language. ‘Hindi Diwas Samaroh’ was organised by the Department of Hindi at St. Xavier’s College on 24th September 2024. The Chief Guests of the Program were Ms. Ursula Barreto, Principal of St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa. To mark the occasion On- stage and Off-stage Competitions like Self- composed Poetry Presentation, Story Writing, Essay Writing, Gazal Singing, Monologue, Sketch making, and Elocution was conducted to motivate students to showcase their talent in Hindi.

The program began with Inaugural function followed by lighting of lamp. Dr. Ramita Gurav, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Hindi welcomed the gathering, The Chief Guest Ms. Ursula Barreto in her address stated that, “Hindi is the language of our unity and it is our pride. It helps students to connect with their heritage and culture”. Seventh edition of newsletter of Hindi department ‘Badhte Kadam’ was released at the hands of the Chief Guest. The vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Kshitija Pednekar, Assistant Professor, Department of Hindi.

The judge’s of the Competitions were faculty Mr. Dharma Chodankar, Fr. Luis Gomes, Mr. Silvester Vaz, Dr. Vrunda Kelkar, Ms. Veena Kerikar, and Ms. Sneha Talekar, Winner’s were awarded with Trophies and Certificates at the hands of Dr. Magdalene D’souza, Associate Professor, Department of Hindi. The program was compered by Mr. Salim Gaded, Assistant Professor, Department of Hindi, Miss. Ankita Kubal, Miss. Gandita Narvekar, Miss Alisha Gawas and Miss. Kahkasha Siddique students from TYBA. The Program was organized under the Co-ordination of Ms. Kshitija Pednekar, Assistant Professor, Department of Hindi.
