A Celebration of Jubilee of Vocations across North Goa on 21.09.2025 – Day of Vocations

The Diocesan Office for the Promotion of Vocations (DOPV) joyfully celebrated the Jubilee of Vocations on the Sunday dedicated for Vocations under the theme “Vochat, Bhorvanso Pettoyat” on September 21, 2025. The event was held simultaneously across eight parishes in North Goa, reaching out to the catechism children and the lay faithful.

For this special Jubilee of Vocations, eight dedicated teams were formed, each comprising of 7 to 8 members from the DOPV Executive Team, Vocation Promoters from various religious congregations and Diocesan priests of the Archdiocese of Goa.

The parishes celebrating this Jubilee were:
1. Immaculate Conception Church, Panaji
2. Holy Cross Church, Santa Cruz
3. Our Lady of Penha de Franca Church, Penha de Franca
4. St. Alex Church, Calangute
5. Mother of God Church, Pomburpa
6. Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Valpoi
7. Our Lady of Rosary Church, Mandrem
8. St. Joseph’s Church, Pernem

In each parish, the team received a warm welcome from the members of the Parish Catechetical Association. The program began with an opening prayer and an action song, setting a prayerful and engaging tone. This was followed by an informative Power Point presentation on the different types of vocations in the Catholic Church. The children were particularly inspired by the personal vocation stories shared by priests and nuns, which served as a living witness to God’s call in today’s world.

A highlight of the event was the presentation of two special videos: a skit titled “Bhorvanxeachi Divtti” and a theme song “Vochat, Bhorvanso Pettoyat”.  Both the skit and the song were written by Rev. Fr. Tomas Lobo, the Chairperson of the Diocesan Office for Promotion of Vocation (DOPV) with the music of the song arranged by Rev. Fr. John Albano Fernandes and beautifully rendered by singers Tanish Ovila Gama and Leroy Gonzag Sequeira. The cast for both productions featured the executive members of DOPV while the videography and editing was done by Johnny Pereira, Exodus Studio.

To encourage personal reflection, slips were distributed among the participants, inviting them to prayerfully consider their own vocations and write down their thoughts and intentions. As a token of remembrance, everyone received a bookmark featuring the prayer for vocations in the Archdiocese of Goa.

The program concluded with a solemn Eucharistic celebration. Later the respective Catechetical Associations proposed a vote of thanks, expressing deep gratitude to the DOPV members and presenting them with tokens of appreciation for making the day both successful and meaningful.
