St. Andrew’s Higher Secondary School, Vasco, began the Academic Year 2026–27 with an Inaugural Mass celebrated by His Eminence Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrao, Archbishop of Goa and Daman, concelebrated by Fr. Josim de Souza, Asst. to the Secretary of DSE, Fr. Anthony Vaz, Fr. Rony Fernandes, Fr. Anthony Vaz, Fr, Myron Fernandes and Fr. Francisco Barreto. The Eucharistic celebration invoked God’s blessings on the students, staff, and the entire school community. In his homily, Cardinal Ferrao urged students to place God at the centre of their lives, pursue academic excellence, and uphold the values of integrity, compassion, and service.
The school then honoured the meritorious Std. XII students for their outstanding performance in the Higher Secondary Certificate Examination. They received trophies, certificates, and mementoes in recognition of their achievements. Principal Dr. Elvis Gonsalves congratulated the awardees and thanked the parents and teachers for their unwavering support, encouraging students to continue striving for excellence with dedication and humility. A vibrant cultural programme added colour to the celebration.
The occasion also marked the inauguration of the Andfinity Sports Arena by Honorable Minister Mr. Mauvin Godinho and MLA of Vasco Constituency Mr. Daji Salkar, with the facility blessed by Cardinal Ferrao. The arena features Futsal cum Cricket pitch and Pickleball courts, along with indoor games such as pool, table tennis, carrom, and chess. Designed to promote holistic development, the facility reflects the school’s commitment to nurturing talent, teamwork, discipline, and healthy competition. Friendly exhibition matches concluded the event, with participants receiving medals for their enthusiastic performance.
