MoCA to host, Parrots Pallette – A Chitari Parrot Workshop

The Museum of Christian Art (MoCA) will host a workshop on Parrots Pallette – a Chitari Parrot Workshop led by artist Vinod Mardolkar, on September 27 at the MoCA Knowledge Centre, Convent of St. John of God, Old Goa.

The workshop begins with a brief walkthrough of the exhibition, offering participants a closer look at Nascimento de Souza’s bird drawings and the inspiration behind the exhibition. Participants will then explore the Chitari tradition and create their own colourful parrots, with two parrots to take home at the end of the workshop!

Vinod Mardolkar hails from a family of traditional Chitaris in Cuncolim, and has dedicated his life to preserving and practicing this ancestral art form. With over 19 years of experience as a craftsman and carpenter at the Goa College of Architecture, Vinod continues his family’s five- generation legacy of artistry — from painted toys and festival décor to intricate wooden creations that keep this artform alive.

The workshop is open to participants aged seven and above. It will be held at 11 am on September 27th at the MoCA Knowledge Centre, opposite the Museum of Christian Art.

The registration fee is ₹800, with limited slots available. The last date to register is September 24th.
