Book release – Sobit Paulam
A book titled ‘Sobit Paulam’, a collection of 10 meaningful short Plays (Nattkulim) written by Rev. Fr. Soccoro Rebello (Asst. Parish Priest, Our Lady of Grace Church, Bicholim) was released on the occasion of Family day celebrations on 26th December by Rev. Fr. Caetano Dourado (Parish Priest, Our Lady of Grace Church, Bicholim) and several members of Parish Pastoral Council.
‘Sobit Paulam’ is a collection of 10 meaningful short plays (Nattkulim). Each play conveys a thought provoking message towards the end, in an effort for the readers to ponder over it and reflect on ways of implementing the message in their own lives. Through this book ‘Sobit Paulam’, Rev. Fr. Soccoro has made an attempt to convey that the very purpose of our existence is to make our lives and the lives of others meaningful and beautiful. Fr. Soccoro in these short plays has enacted the roles of Saint John the Baptist, St Joseph Vaz, St Therese of Child Jesus, Padre Pio, St Anthony, St. Francis Xavier, St. Joseph to show how they have changed the lives of several people by taking beautiful steps.
Rev. Fr.Soccoro Rebelo hailing from Baida-Chinchinim, is a Konkani Writer. Besides serving as the Asst. Parish Priest at Our Lady of Grace Church, Bicholim, Fr. Rebelo is a regular contributor to bulletins, periodicals, magazines and has been doing several efforts to bring out the richness of our mother tongue Konkani. Fr. Soccoro Rebelo has several books to his credit. To name a few, Novi Kombri ani Avhan (a collection of short plays), Zollto Divo (essay), Jivit Samballum-ia, Visvasghat (Tiatr) and ‘Khell Khellom-ia’. Besides, Fr. Soccoro has also contributed to the Tiatr field and has staged several Tiatrs such as Jivit Samballum-ia, Visvasghat: Asa tum toyar; Mogachi Nixanni. Rev. Fr. Soccoro has also released a CD of his Tiatr ‘Asa Tum Toyar’. At a very young age, Rev. Fr. Soccoro has won reputed awards such as Dalgado Tornatto Puroskar ani Maria Afonso Konknni Puroskar (Tomas Stephens Konkanni Kendracho). Besides, Fr. Soccoro was recently awarded Late Narsimha Damodar Naik Award for Literature for his book titled ‘Khell Khellom-ia’.
