CCBI Develops Strategic Plan

Benaulim, Goa 10 March 2023 (CCBI): The Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI) develops strategic plan for the national and regional commissions. The first phase of the strategic planning meeting was held on Friday 10 March 2023 at Shanti Sadan, Benaulim, Goa. His Eminence Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrão, President, CCBI and the Archbishop of Goa and Daman presided over the one-day planning meeting.

The CCBI develops the strategic planning to revamp the 16 Commissions 4 Apostolates and 6 Departments of the CCBI as well as the regional and diocesan commissions. The strategic planning will be the follow up of the CCBI pastoral plan developed in 2013, as well as the two national synthesis for the Synod submitted for the continental and universal synods. The CCBI also came up with ten proposals in the final message of its 34th Plenary Assembly held from 24 to 30 January 2023, which discussed the theme “Telling the Story of Jesus in Our Context: in a Synodal Way”. The strategic planning will also consider the ten proposals of the 34th Plenary Assembly.

The first phase of the planning meeting was facilitated by Rev. Dr. Joseph Xavier, S.J., Director, ISI, Bangalore. Rev. Dr. Stephen Alathara, Deputy Secretary General, Rev. Fr. Arul Raj Gali, C.S.C, Executive Secretary, CCBI Commission for Family, Rev. Fr. Duming Gonsalves, Executive Secretary, CCBI Commission for Catechetics, Rev. Fr. Jaison Vadassery, Executive Secretary, CCBI Commission for Migrants, Rev. Dr. Charles Leon, Executive Secretary, CCBI Commission for Vocations, Seminaries, Clergy and Religious, Rev. Dr. Christopher Vimal Raj, Director, CCBI Bioethics Forum, Rev. Sr. Lidwin Fernandes, U.F.S., Executive Secretary, CCBI Commission for Women and Ms. Lee Macqueen, Strategic Planning, Project Coordinator.

The second phase of the strategic planning will be held from 7th to 8th May 2023, at St. John’s National Academy of Health Sciences, Bangalore, which will be attended by the CCBI Office Bearers, Chairmen of the Commissions, Executive Secretaries, Directors of the Departments, and the Coordinators of the Apostolates of the CCBI.
