The AICUF cell of St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa, successfully organized the 3rd edition of the “Choir of the Year” on September 21, 2024, in the College Seminar hall. The event, which saw the participation of 11 teams, each comprising 10 members, including one faculty member, was a vibrant celebration of Catholic leadership and values. The theme for the Hymn singing event was, GO AND PROCLAIM THE GOOD NEWS. The guests and judges for the programme were Mr Velerio Mascarenhas, Fr John A Fernandes and Ms Leticia Mascarenhas. The Teams presented very beautifully their hymns in Praise of the Almighty and the highlight of the day was the team “Long to Worship,” who claimed the prestigious title of “Choir of the Year 2024.”
Fr. Tony Salema, the College Administrator, praised the efforts of AICUF for their continued dedication to fostering Catholic leadership on campus. Ms Aloma Saldanha expertly coordinated the programme, while AICUF members Taresh Mendes and Janice D’Cruz kept the event lively as comperes. In his closing remarks, AICUF Convenor Fr. Ramiro Luis commended the hard work of all the participants and organizers, underscoring the importance of such events in nurturing Catholic values among students.
Ms Aloma in her Gratitude speech expressed her joy of having great hearted AICUF members who were ever ready to help put up a Spiritual event on the campus.
