Christmas Celebration with Kathkari Tribals in Goa
Christmas is a time to share our joy and happiness not only with our loved ones but also with others especially the ones who are unknown to us and the less fortunate. Keep this in mind, Chotanagpur Youth group Goa under the leadership of Fr. Michael Pereira, SVD, along with Peter Borges, the chairperson of Child Right commission, govt. Of Goa organised a Christmas Celebration for the Kathkari tribals at Virnoda, Pernem. Peter Borges and Fr. Michael Pereira, SVD, along with Chotanagpur youth planned the whole program. The program included dances by Chotanagpur Youth Group, games for the Children, youth, couples etc. People were so happy and excited that they also volunteered to put up a dance. During the event, the children were also encouraged to display their dancing, art and other talents, giving them a platform to be creative. In his address Fr. Michael Pereira, SVD, said, “Christmas is a time to share our joy and happiness with each other, and with this intention we have come here to share the joy and happiness of Christmas with these people.” Mr. Peter Borges mentioned, “This was an event to spread even more smiles, make a difference and foster good mental health during the holiday season.” The program concluded with prize distribution and snacks. The people actively participated in the program and were filled with joy and gladness. Mr. Hanumant, the leader of the Khatkari tribals expressed his gratefulness on behalf of all the people. Chotanagpur youth expressed that it was a wonderful experience they had with the people. They said that this was the first time that they organised such a program and are looking forward for many more such programs.
