CUP OF LIFE – a celebrity exhibition match held
Cup of Life, a Celebrity Exhibition Football match was organized by Cansurvive, a project by Caritas Goa to raise awareness on early detection of cancer on 21st May 2022 at The Base, in Seraulim.
Celebrities from the fields of fashion, music and sports namely, Padmashri Brahmanand Sankwalkar, Mukesh Ghatwal, Philu Martins, Joanne Da Cunha, Micky Fernandes, Robert Fernandes, Varun Carvalho, Verma Dmello, Alvito D’Cunha, Velrose Pereira, Climax Lawrence, Cavin Lobo and Franky Fernandes offered their services to support the noble cause. The match was played between North Goa and South Goa. The Golden Shoe Trophy for the ‘star of the match’ was presented to Robert Fernandes. The North Goa emerged as winners.
Fr. Maverick Fernandes, Director Caritas Goa, during the break time, appealed to the spectators to enroll themselves as volunteers of CanSurvive in order to enhance its network. He also informed that cancer can be successfully fought through early detection. He also encouraged the crowd to approach their respective panchayats and municipalities to organize cancer detection camps along with the Health Services. The Cup of Life Exhibition match was coordinated by Ms. Ninoshka Fernandes, Coordinator of CanSurvive.
