DCLA and Lar Community Celebrate Inaugural Mass, Embracing Laity’s Mission as Beacons of Hope and Joy

The Diocesan Centre for Lay Apostolate and Lar Community Celebrated its Inaugural Mass on 5th June 2025 at Lar De Estudantes at 11.30am. Auxiliary Bishop Most Reverend Simiao Purificacao Fernandes was the main Celebrant, and in His homily he briefly explained the Role of Laity is to give Hope to the Hopeless and Joy to the Lonely. He also Explained BMW- Laity need to be a Faith Buttresses, ‘M’ as Manifestation of Risen Lord and ‘W’ as Witnesses of Hope to the world. The Mass was Co-celebrated by Fr. Jorge Fernandes Director Diocesan Centre for Lay Apostolate, Fr. Leo Fernandes (Executive Secretary of the Pastoral Secretariat), Fr. Barry Cardozo (Director Diocesan Centre for Social and Communication Media), and attended by Religious Sisters, DCLA Staff, team members and Benefactors. Fr. Jorge Fernandes gave the vote of thanks, where he thanked both the Bishops, Priests, Religious, and specially the Lay Faithful for their ever commitment to this DCLA Centre and its Mission of Formation, Empowerment and Networking of different Associates under DCLA. Finally the Whole Gathering took a promise by holding the Lit candle as a Sign of Giving Hope to the World and becoming beacons of Faith, Peace and Joy in this Pastoral Year. This was followed by a Fellowship Meal and thereafter the DCLA had their first Pastoral Team meeting in the evening.
