Organised by Fr. Arlino D’Melo and the Parish Pastoral Council
The Parish of St. Francis of Assisi, Colvale, under the leadership of Parish Priest Fr. Arlino D’Melo, hosted a truly memorable Deanery Pastors Day on 5th August 2025 welcoming around 75 priests and religious men and women from across the deanery.
The day began with a solemn and prayerful celebration of the Holy Mass, attended not only by the visiting clergy and religious, but also by a large congregation of parishioners whose devotion and participation gave the liturgy a deeply spiritual atmosphere. Fr. Peter Da Gama, the Dean, welcomed the congregation, Fr Walter D’Sa celebrated the Eucharist and Fr Alden delivered a heart touching homily. The united prayers and joyful singing of the congregation reflected the vibrant faith of the Colvale community.
Following the Eucharistic celebration, a well-planned felicitation programme showcased the warmth and hospitality for which the parish is known. Graceful dances and a melodious song prepared by parishioners added colour and joy to the occasion. Every detail of the arrangements — from the décor to the smooth flow of the programme — bore witness to the meticulous planning of the Parish Pastoral Council, ably led by Ms . Aruna Rocha.
The Evening ended by some thoughts of gratitude and deanery announcements by Fr. Peter Da Gama, the Dean, the delicious meal lovingly prepared and served by the Somudhais of the parish. Their heartfelt service, was a true expression of community spirit. The entire ambience was one of welcome, joy, and unity, leaving a lasting impression on all present.
Fr. Arlino’s gracious hosting, supported by the tireless efforts of the PPC, Somudhai leaders, and countless parishioners, ensured that the Deanery Pastors Day was not only well-organised but also deeply touching in its warmth.
In the spirit of their patron saint, St. Francis of Assisi, the parish once again demonstrated simplicity, humility, and joyful service. May God continue to bless the Colvale parish community abundantly, strengthening their witness to Christ’s love in the deanery and beyond.
