The Diocesan Youth Centre had its environment based program called as ‘Nature A-Live’ on 22nd to 23rd February 2025 in the village of Chicalim. There were around 70 youth from across 40 parishes who participated in this program. Nature A-Live was focussed around the theme ‘preservation of the richness of nature’ and the resource persons were, Mr. Cyril Fernandes, on behalf of the Catholic Association of Goa, who presented on the topic Human Rights and Duties towards Nature, he also guided a heritage walk to the ruins of the 400 years old St. Bartholomew’s Church where holy Eucharist was celebrated with the guidance of the parish priest and fabrica of Chicalim parish, followed by a visit to see the Historic Caves and the island of St. Jacinth. Ms. Liza Pinheiro a young entrepreneur, demonstrated the modern skills and techniques of gardening. Mr. Shohail Furtado, a young social activist, illumined the participants about the ongoing illegal destruction of Goa, its eminent consequences and our responsibility to save Goa. Youngsters also engaged in an interactive and fun-filled activities including live performances, dance and cooking to survive in the wild. The participants have gone back with a rich experience from the ‘Nature A-live.’
