On the occasion of the Feast of the Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary and Independence day, Parishioners of Our Lady of Grace Church, Bicholim had a wonderful evening by organizing celebrations in a traditional way known as Ekvottachi Sanz which was enjoyed amidst traditional cultural programmes and games played in the good olden days, under the guidance of the Parish Priest Rev. Fr Caetano Dourado and Asst Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Soccoro Rebello.
Each Somudai was asked to prepare traditional sweets. It was a day of togetherness wherein families of each Somudai gathered together to prepare traditional sweets such as Patolleo, Alle-belle, Filoz, Traditional rice kheer, Pinagr, also typical Goan tea-time savouries such as Poha, Usal. It was a day for revival of all the long lost forgotten traditional sweets. Some old forgotten games were also played by the Parishioners. These were the games which were played much before the arrival of the smartphones and were enjoyed by the young as well as the old. It was a wonderful revival of these games which many of us are not even aware of nowadays. There was a good participation of all these traditional games
