Felicitation of Covid Warriors: Covid 19 – Sanvordem Church
This is the voice of Saint John the Baptist that cried in the wilderness for people to repent from their sins. And the same message of this voice is reminded by every parish in Goa on 24 June. This year the Guardian Angel Church Sanvordem celebrated the feast of Saint John the Baptist on 26 June 2022. Under the able guidance of Fr. Vital Miranda and Fr. Jovier Barretto the Catechetical Association took charge of the entire programme. The celebration was a great success as it highlighted the colours of Unity in diversity, Dedicated service, spiritual nourishment and a joyful get-together.
The programme began with the prayer service followed by a prayer dance, performed by the catechists. This year every catechism group is given the name of a saint and accordingly the catechists trained the children to depicted the life incident or one miracle of the saint. It was a real nourishment for our soul as it reminded us the importance of being closer to God and to live a spiritual life.
Felicitation of Covid Warriors: Covid 19 was the horrifying situation to most of us and giving our service during these times will be out of our sight and mind and yet there were many who came forward to render their service to the church. A time when no one was there to bury the dead and during this tough situation of pandemic our Muslim brothers showed their willingness to help the parish priests to give the final rites to the people of the church who lost their lives. These brothers and our church ward leaders who gave their service in maintaining the order and discipline in the church were felicitated. It was a pure sight of Unity in Diversity.
Colourful kopels, singing on the rhythm of Goan melody and our special invitees the senior citizens added beauty and elegance to the programme. Special dance item from the Youth and a variety of games for different age group brought everyone together to rejoice and to hear the voice of Saint John the Baptist.
