Goa Teachers’ Team – XXXII Regional Seminar cum Recollection

The Goa Teachers’ Team held its XXXII Regional Seminar cum Recollection on 18th and 19th October 2025 at Dasya, Porvorim. It was a truly grace-filled experience animated by the National Chaplain, Fr. Siju Pappachan CSC, and Regional Chaplain, Fr. Walter de Sá.

The programme began in the evening of 18th October with registration, tea, and a warm welcome. Fr. Walter de Sá led the recollection on the theme of Hope, reminding us that Hope generates courage, reduces stress, deepens relationships, and nurtures life with peace, serenity and joy. He invited teachers to awaken hope in the students and to draw strength from the Eucharist in order to face any crisis. The day ended with a Rosary Rally, dinner, and a short fun game conducted by Tr. Mary Fernandes, which added joy and laughter to the evening.

The following morning began with prayer and meditation led by Fr. Siju Pappachan. This was followed by an insightful session on Mental Health Support and Preventing Self-Harm and Suicide, conducted by three professionals from Tele-Manas Goa, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare – namely, Ms. Meghna Jadhav, a Clinical Psychologist, Richal Fernandes, a Psychiatric Nurse and Yogesh Gawas, Team Assistant. They conducted engaging interactive sessions that addressed challenges faced by children, adolescents, and adults. Miss Meghana Jadhav explained some of the available free counselling and teletherapy services through helplines 14416 or 1800-891-4416, emphasizing confidentiality and care.

Thereafter the participants joined in the Eucharistic celebration with Fr. Siju and Fr. Walter followed by lunch and discussions on Teachers’ Team matters. The seminar concluded with tea and a deep sense of gratitude and self-renewal as expressed by Bishop Desmond Tutu, “Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all the darkness.”

It was indeed a weekend of reflection, learning, and fellowship, an experience that rekindled hope in our hearts and strengthened our mission as teachers.
