Goa With Earth – A new initiative at Saligao/Pilerne Seminary

The Seminary of Our Lady of Saligao/Pilerne, under the guidance of Fr. Valerian Vaz and Mr. David De Souza started a new initiative called ‘Goa with earth’. This is a guaranteed organised action with efficiently applying residue treating habits. This organisation will collect all the residue food waste at one place and create manure out of these waste products. Mr David in his address to the public highlighted that Goa is an acronym which stands for guaranteed organised action. He stated that ‘’cleanliness is not a drive but a habit, likewise, this initiative is beyond saving earth, saving soil, it is basically changing our mind set. The idea is that there is nothing such as garbage or as waste everything has some value’’. This centre will be selling food products and at the same time collecting food residue from the buyers which will be later on converted into manure.

Fr. Valerian Vaz expressed his happiness about the inauguration of this project of Goa with Earth. He stated that this is also a soil conserving project as there is a risk that over a period of time Goan soil may get depleted. ‘’Through this project we will rejuvenate the soil from something that could have gone waste’’, he continued. ‘’The food residue will be collected and turned into manure and this manure will increase the fertility of the soil’’, he added. Finally, he invited people to come and be part of this project.
