HANDMAIDS OF CHRIST ELECT THEIR SUPERIOR GENERAL

The XIX Ordinary General Chapter of the Congregation of the Handmaids of Christ was held at St. Alex Convent, Calangute, from 11th May to 17th May, 2022. The theme taken for the General Chapter was “Journeying Together to Review, Renew and Relaunch”.
At the General Chapter, Sr. Faria Barretto is re-elected, as the Superior General for the second term of six years. Sr. Perpetua Vaz, Sr. Willber Coutinho, Sr. Justina Vaz, Sr. Myra Da Costa and Sr. Rosy Dias are elected as her General Councillors; Sr. Xaverita Fernandes elected as the General Bursar and Sr. Sena Viegas, appointed as the General Secretary.
She is a dynamic, enthusiastic and energetic sister with a humble lifestyle. Trusting in God and the co-operation and blessings of her Sisters, she aims to take the Congregation to greater heights of sanctity.
The Handmaids of Christ are grateful to the former General Team for their dedicated service to the Congregation for the past six years. May God be their reward.
We pray for God’s blessings upon the Superior General Sr. Faria Barretto and her Team. Under her vibrant leadership, we, the Sisters of the Handmaids of Christ, aspire to Journey together to perpetuate the vision and mission of our Founder Msgr. Herculano Gonsalves in order to become more effective witnesses of Jesus Christ.
