IGNITE 3.0 (In God’s Name I Triumph Everyday),

The Holy Family Parish Youth organized IGNITE 3.0, in collaboration with the DYC (Diocesan Youth Centre) on 25th June 2023 at Deepti Sadan, Porvorim. The name IGNITE, in full stands for “In God’s Name I Triumph Everyday”. The Youth of the Holy Family Church had organized this event for the third consecutive year. This event was held to motivate the youngsters to grow in team spirit and main aim of this event was to bring new youngsters to experience the youth ministry. Thus Event was open to all the youth members and newly Confirmed Youth of our Parish. It began at 9:30 am, with registration which involved handing out theme printed name tags and snack boxes to each. After registering themselves, the Youth then assembled in the hall. Ms. Elisa Michael (Event Coordinator) welcomed everyone and at 10:00 am, the youth participated in Holy Eucharist, celebrated by Fr. Blaise Lobo and con-celebrated by Fr. Alfi D’cruz. The theme of the Mass was “Do as I have Done to You” which is also the theme of the Pastoral Year 2023-24. Fr. Blaise delivered a lovely homily “Do not be afraid” which spoke about the Manipur incident and the suffering of the people there. He talked about how we should not be afraid when things like this happen. Instead, we should trust in God at all times. After Mass, a group photo was taken following which the DYC members comprising of Sanford Mascarenhas, Swenny Gomes, Dr. Nashvelli Fulero and Jaff Rodrigues took over with an animation session. This was followed by a dynamic talk on “Youth Ministry – What the Youth is all about” delivered by Fr. Blaise Lobo. Dr. Nashvelli Fulero (DYC) then shared her experience on joining the Parish Youth and the Diocesan Youth Centre. Youth Asst. coordinator Ms. Kylie Finch, delivered the Vote of Thanks to Fr. Blaise Lobo and the DYC team who were then felicitated with Tokens of Appreciation by Fr. Alfi, Youth Coordinator Clive D’souza and Event Coordinator Elisa Michael.
The emcee for the event, Ms. Inica Fernandes then took over introducing the Youth Band led by Mr. Weinschel Barretto, who performed a number of Gospel Songs and led the Youth through a series of games and fun packed action songs which kept them on their feet singing, dancing and running around for Spot prizes. After lunch they participated in some more action songs before settling down for the next session.
Fr. Alfi conducted an activity on “Team Building”, for which the youth were asked to sit in groups and discuss some tasks as a team. Fr. Alfi then proceeded to give a talk on the same. Following this, Fr. Caetano addressed the Youth and introduced the New Committee to them. A video of “Old Memories of the Youth” was screened which consisted of photos of all events of the Youth in the past year. Following which an educative and interesting talk was delivered by Fr. Joseph and Fr. Stephen on Social Action and the History of the Society of Pilar.
IGNITE 3.0 successfully concluded at 5:30pm with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Youth Coordinator Mr. Clive D’souza, after which tokens for the event as well as Youth Event Planners for the year 2023-24, were handed to all participants. A group photo was taken and everyone then dispersed for tea and snacks before returning to their homes.
