MediaScope 10.0 – St. Xavier’s College Showcases Creative Talent

The Department of Mass Communication & Journalism at St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa, successfully organised the tenth edition of its flagship inter–higher secondary media festival, MediaScope 10.0 in January. The day-long event brought together enthusiastic participants from ten higher secondary institutions across Goa.

The event commenced with an inaugural ceremony attended by Administrator Rev. Fr. Antonio Salema and Principal Ms. Ursula Barreto. Rev. Fr. Salema encouraged students to practise gratitude and mindfulness, while Ms. Barreto motivated participants to embrace creativity and explore the vast opportunities in the media field.

The keynote address was delivered by Chief Guest Mr. Vardhan Dhaimodkar, an accomplished filmmaker, director, editor, and alumnus of the college. In his address, he spoke about the rapidly evolving nature of media and cinema, urging students to harness their creativity and reminding them that “the future of media lies within you.” The unveiling of the newly designed MediaScope trophy marked a special highlight of the inauguration ceremony.

MediaScope 10.0 featured a diverse range of competitions conducted simultaneously across the campus. These included Quiz, Amazing Race, Mad Ad, LollyWood, Spotlight, Photography, Reel-making, Canvas Painting, and Dance. The events tested students’ creativity, analytical skills, teamwork, and technical proficiency. The dance competition, in particular, drew vibrant participation and enthusiastic applause from the audience.

Sharada Mandir Higher Secondary School emerged as the overall champions, followed by Navy School HSS in second place and St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School securing third position. The event Coordinated by Mr. Dinesh Nirawdekar and Ms. Jonquil Sudhir, MediaScope 10.0 once again proved to be a dynamic platform for nurturing young media talent.
