The Museum of Christian Art (MoCA), Old Goa is delighted to announce the successful launch of the MoCA Library Project as part of its Knowledge Center, on 26th July, 2024. This significant date marked the 101st birth anniversary of Mr. Percival Noronha, a distinguished former member of the Museum’s Managing Committee, whose family has donated books from his collection to the MoCA library.
To commemorate this notable event, His Excellency Most Rev. Simião Purificação Fernandes, Auxiliary Bishop of Goa and Daman, blessed the project and some of the books from the collection in the presence of the family members of Mr. Noronha, the Managing Committee members and MoCA Staff.
The MoCA Knowledge Center aims to foster and disseminate knowledge about Goa’s unique artistic and architectural heritage. It will include facilities for Art Conservation, Research, Digital Repository, and a comprehensive Library and Archives.
The MoCA Library and Archives will house a collection of books, journals, research publications, photographs, maps and articles on themes related to Goa, History, Art and Architecture, Conservation and Heritage matters. The library will serve as an invaluable resource for researchers, academics and students specializing in art, history, architecture, museology, and conservation.
