MoCA Presents ‘The Legend of Bebinca’: A Unique Culinary Experience in Old Goa

The Museum of Christian Art (MoCA), in collaboration with The Goan Kitchen, is set to host a distinctive culinary and cultural experience titled “The Legend of Bebinca” at the historic Convent of Santa Monica in Old Goa.

This immersive event invites participants to explore the fascinating story behind Goa’s iconic dessert, Bebinca — often referred to as the “Queen of Goan Desserts.” Rooted in legend, the dessert is believed to have been created centuries ago by Sister Bebiana within the convent’s cloistered walls, symbolising the richness and layered traditions of Goan heritage.

Attendees will have the rare opportunity to witness the step-by-step preparation of Bebinca, guided by an expert chef from The Goan Kitchen. The experience also includes a curated walk through the 17th-century convent, where museum facilitators will bring its architecture and historical narratives to life.

Adding to the experience, participants will receive a thoughtfully curated gift bag filled with special surprises.

Blending history, storytelling, and culinary tradition, the event promises to be a memorable journey into Goa’s rich cultural past.
