Nativity of Mary and Jubilee of Mother’s Day Celebration, Mae de Deus Church, Saligao

The Catechetical Association of Mae de Deus Church, Saligao, along with the parishioners, joyfully celebrated the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary & Jubilee of Mother’s Day Celebration, on 8th September 2025 under the theme “Cherishing Mary and Mothers.” After the Solemn Feast Mass celebrated by the Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Deniz Fernandes, parishioners gathered in the hall for competitions designed to strengthen the mother-child bond. The celebration began with students welcoming their mothers through song, poems, and handmade cards. The youth added vibrancy with lively performances.

The “Bowlful of Health” salad-making contest encouraged creativity in nutrition, while “Tote-ally Cool” saw participants paint tote bags on the theme “Hope does not disappoint.” In “Battle of the Strands,” mothers and daughters styled hair with flair. Onstage, parishioners enjoyed “Parable Talent,” a showcase of gifts, and “Faith and Freedom,” a Biblical fashion show. Judges were warmly welcomed, and spot prizes kept the audience engaged.

A touching highlight was the cake-cutting with all mothers gathered at the centre, symbolizing unity, gratitude and the Jubilee of Mothers celebration. Refreshments were shared, and catechism students who faithfully attended novena Masses received gifts as tokens of appreciation. Winners of competitions were rewarded, while all participants were acknowledged for their efforts.

Rev. Fr. Elroy da Gama proposed the vote of thanks, while the compere Mr. Nazareth Fernandes skillfully guided the programme. The coordinators for the event were Ms. Larissa Madeira, Mr. Shawn Mesquita and Mrs. Vienna Gracias. The celebration was well appreciated by parishioners and priests alike, truly honoring mothers in the spirit of Mary – joyful, faith-filled, and life-giving.
