Novena & Feast of St. Francis Xavier, Old Goa, 2022
On 23Nov. Wednesday at 6.00pm is the inauguration of the novena and feast with the Maddi. The Mass timings from 24 Nov through 2 Dec are as follows: In the mornings – 6.00am, 7.15am, 8.15am, 9.30am, 10.30am and in the evenings – 3.45pm, 5.00pm and 6.00pm (English).
On the feast day the masses will begin at: 4.00am, 5.00am, 6.00am, 7.00am, 8.00am, 9.00am, the Solemn Feast High Mass 10.30 am, and continue in the afternoon – 12.30pm, 3.00pm, 4.00pm 5.00pm, and 6.00pm (English). On 26, 27 Nov. and 2 Dec. the Masses will begin at 5am. No Mass at 10.30am on 25 Nov. and 1st Dec. (Feast of St. Catherine and Mass will be at 10am in the Se Cathedral. On 1 Dec. is the Inter Religious Meet)
During the novenas, the 8.15am and 9.30am Masses are allotted to the Deaneries. It is an attempt to foster synodality – communion, participation, and mission. It makes it possible for the faithful in the parishes throughout the Dioceses to come together and participate in the Masses. Except on the 27 Nov. the first Sunday of Advent where people have the freedom to come as they wish. In the evenings at 3.45pm the Diocesan Centers will organize the liturgies. All masses are in Konkani, unless specified.

The 3.45pm Mass is allotted to the centers. But on the 30th of Nov, there is a special Mass for all priests, religious, brothers, and seminarians in the diocese. Kindly note that our journeying with Jesus and with one another as persons called by Him and consecrated to him, should make us warmly feel His invitation to participate in that Eucharistic celebration at 3.45pm as fruit of our ministerial synodality.

The feast day solemn high mass is at 10.30 am. It will be presided over by the Apostolic Nuncio to India, His Excellency, the Most Reverend Leopoldo Girelli, flanked by His Eminence, Patriarch Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrao, Archbishop of Goa and Daman, and the Right Reverend Alwyn Barreto, Bishop of Sindhudurg, along with many concelebrants, and participation of devotees and invitees.
The Maddi is in the evening at 6pm on 23 Nov in the Pandal. Daily confessions are available for the faithful from 5.30am through 10.30am and from 3.00pm through 6.00pm from 24 Nov through 2 Dec. Except on 30 Nov, and 2 Dec. there will be no confessions in the afternoon. And there will be no confessions on the feast day 3 Dec. Whenever possible, your availability at the confessional will be highly appreciated. The traditional pilgrims with passes from the “Help Desk” can stay in the corridors. But the overflow of pilgrims can occupy the tent with a pass in the backyard of the Basilica. The traditional pilgrims will be able to cook their own food.
