A Konkani Operetta on the Life and Mission of St. Francis Xavier

The inspiring life story of Saint Francis Xavier, highlighting his missionary work, commitment to teaching value-based living, and firm devotion to the unseen hand that directs man’s destiny, will be brought to life through a musical journey that includes song, dance, and theatrical performance.


To mark the Exposition of Goa’s very own Gõycho Saib this year, the committee for the Exposition of Sacred Relics of St. Francis Xavier is organising a musical operetta titled “Porgottnnar” which will honour the gift of life, the spiritual past, and man’s faith.


The Concept, Music & Orchestration & the Main Coordinator of the Opera is Fr. Simon D’Cunha, a Goa Diocesan priest who serves as both the Chaplain of Borda’s St. Joaquim Chapel and the President of the Diocesan Commission for Sacred Music of the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman, will be leading the Opera.


Music Assistant to the Music Director Fr. Simon D’Cunha is Mr.Joynus Noronha.
The author of the script is Rev Dr. Fr. Luis Gomes, Professor at St Xavier’s College, Mapusa.
The stage concept and sets are designed by Fr. Jovial Fernandes and Fr. Dyrel Dias.
Direction by Agnelo Borim.
Dance choreography by Cecille Rodrigues.

The Operetta comprises of 50 artists, 30 musicians, 23 vocalists which includes children and 50 dancers, which comes to a total cast of 153 members. Overall Crew of Operetta including back Stage artists is of 180 members.
Overall Coordinator of Organizing the Show is Fr. Henry Falcão, Convenor of the Exposition.
It will be staged at different places all over Goa, commencing from 10th November 2024 at Majorda Church.
