In keeping with the Lenten Spirit, the parishioners of St. John the Baptist Church, Pilerne, participated in a reflective Village Way of the Cross on Sunday, 23rd March 2025. A life-size statue of Jesus carrying the cross headed the procession, which was led by the Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Derick Fernandes. Beginning with the first station in the church compound, the procession wended it’s way through all the wards of Pilerne, to the accompaniment of devotional music and the recitation of the Rosary.
Each Station was dedicated to different categories of people, such as, Doctors, Catechists, Musicians, etc. The arrangements at each Station were made by the respective Somudai members. Though some people accompanied the statue for all the stations, others chose to remain at their station.
The reflections at each station aimed to deepen the understanding of Christ’s sacrifice, promote self- reflection and inspire self-renewal.
