Revive organized by the AICUF of St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa

The AICUF of St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa organized REVIVE — a half-day recollection for Xavierites to spend time in prayer, fellowship, and faith while also ‘reviving’ themselves to become more ardent proclaimers of Christ’s love.

The recollection was held on 26 August 2025  at the Seminar Hall of the College and witnessed the participation of 77 youngsters.

The day began with the participants watching a short video clip which shed light on the true meaning and the crux of the Holy Mass. Keeping in mind the lesson imbibed from the video, the youngsters participated in the Holy Mass celebrated by Rev. Fr. Ramiro Luis. The theme chosen for the Eucharistic celebration was “REVIVE: Cleansed within, Renewed in Spirit, Alive in Hope.”

During the homily, Fr. Ramiro shed light on the deep relevance of this theme for every student. He explained how being “cleansed within” challenges young people to let go of negativity, unhealthy habits, and distractions that weigh them down. To be “renewed in spirit” means allowing God’s grace to strengthen them with courage and perseverance amidst academic and personal struggles. Finally, being “alive in hope” is the call to remain optimistic, to trust in God’s plan, and to radiate joy in a world that often discourages faith. His words urged the youth to treasure their college years not just for learning, but also as a time to grow in values, deepen faith, and spread love.

After the Eucharist, the music and dance ministry led an animation session to energize the youngsters. This was followed by the keynote input of the day by Dr. Sam Braganza, who spoke on believing in miracles and being rooted in Christ’s love despite life’s trials. Through his dynamic style and ability to connect faith with everyday challenges, Dr. Sam used real-life examples and storytelling to stir the hearts of the participants. His message reminded the students that miracles are not only extraordinary signs but can also be found in the simple blessings of daily life when seen with faith. His talk inspired them to remain firm in Christ, who alone gives strength to rise above difficulties.

Thereafter, Mr. Worrel D’Souza, faculty of the college, conducted a fun icebreaker session by putting the participants into various groups. Two of the AICUF volunteers also conducted more icebreaker games, helping participants to interact freely and build new friendships. Refreshments were served, giving the youngsters time to relax and engage in conversations with each other.

The recollection concluded with the music and dance ministry engaging the participants in a lively series of action songs, leaving everyone with hearts full of joy, faith, and renewed hope.
