Our Lady of the Rosary HSS, Dona Paula recently organised an Inter religious Solidarity programme titled ‘Guldasta’ in collaboration with Solidarity Forum of the Society of Pilar. The programme aimed at strengthening inter religious harmony and peace within the school community. Over 350 students participated in the programme. The programme began with the lighting of the traditional lamp and garlanding of the Indian constitution at the hands of Dr. Fr. Elvis Fernandes, one of the speakers. At the very outset Sr. Manisha Parmar, Principal of Our Lady of the Rosary HSS welcomed the gathering and highlighted the importance of harmony between religions. Scholastic Robinson Pacheco, the coordinator of Solidary Forum enlightened the audience about the objective and purpose of the programme. Dr. Fr. Elvis Fernandes, convenor of Solidarity Forum then eloquently addressed the main topic respecting religious diversity. He aptly began with a small exercise and highlighted the importance of peace and harmony between religions. Architect Tallulah D’silva brought out the essence of peace through mindful meditation. The sessions were followed by testimonials given by the students of the school, Falaknaz Jakati, Reshma Pawar and Chriselle Pereira that highlighted their personal experiences of inter-religious Solidarity and harmony. A folk dance exhibiting the peaceful co-existence of diversity in India was then performed. The Higher Secondary appreciated the time and effort the dignitaries invested and presented them with a small token of their gratitude. The session ended with the vote of thanks delivered by the Assistant General Secretary, Lalita Oli and the singing of the national anthem.
