Sadbhavna programme held in Fr. Agnel HSS, Pilar

Recently, Fr. Agnel Higher Secondary School, Pilar, Goa and Solidarity Forum, Pilar successfully hosted its annual Inter religious solidarity programme named ‘Sadbhavna’ with the theme of Compassion. The event, aimed at fostering inter-religious solidarity and harmony. It saw active participation from 560 students, scholastics from the Society of Pilar, teachers, and notable speakers.

At the very outset Fr. Andrew Silveira, the principal, welcomed the gathering. He emphasised the urgency and significance of organising such programmes. Fr. Elvis Fernandes, the convenor of Solidarity Forum acknowledged the enthusiasm of the school community for sustaining the long-standing tradition of Fr. Agnel HSS of organising Inter religious solidarity programmes. Endeavours. He further said that these sorts of programmes enable the participants to understand our common humanity and oneness, that we are all interconnected and that one can grow and progress through the growth and progression of others.

The event commenced with a warm welcome by Scholastic Robinson Pacheco, followed by a hymn, “Make Me a Channel of Your Peace.” A special Act of Solidarity, involving the garlanding of the Constitution and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, set the tone for the event, symbolizing unity and peace.

Distinguished speakers included Mr. Vitthal Shelke, Ms. Hani Khan and Fr. Diogo D’Souza who shared their insights on compassion and harmony. Students Rashmita Panhalkar and Zubair Shaikh from XI Commerce, Sian Fernandes, and Tanisha Gaonkar from XII Commerce also shared their reflections, highlighting the importance of solidarity among diverse communities.

The audience was treated to a thought-provoking street play by Fr. Agnel College, directed by Asst. Prof. Vindya Gauns, emphasizing the theme of the event. The program concluded with the presentation of mementos, a vote of thanks by Teacher Pratibha, and the National Anthem.

Sadbhavna continues to be a key event promoting peace, understanding, and religious harmony within the student community and beyond.
