Santa Cruz High School celebrates 60 years
Santa Cruz High school celebrated their Diamond Jubilee on 25th February, Sunday on a grand scale. The function began with a Thanksgiving mass celebrated by His Eminence Most. Rev. Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrao. The other priests present were Fr. Jesus Rodrigues, Secretary of the DSE, Fr. Walter D’Sa, Fr. Santana Faleiro, Fr. Alexandre Pereira, Fr. Avinash Rebello, Fr. Ricardo Pinheiro,the manager of the school, Fr. Maurice Colaco and Fr. Richard Rodrigues. The mass was attended by the invitees which were the ex and present staff, students, benefactors and special dignitaries from the village.
Following the Eucharistic Celebration was a felicitation program which was organized in the school campus. The ex-managers and ex- headmasters over the years were felicitated at the hands of the Cardinal along with a few others for their contribution to the school. The ex-headmasters present were Mr. Joseph Carvalho, Mr. Samir Coutinho and Mr. Cherian Kuruvilla.
The Cardinal then addressed the gathering with a beautiful message. The present headmaster Sir. Russell Coutinho presented a brief report about the school and the history of the school over the years was also presented. There was a cultural program put up by the students of the pre-primary, primary, middle school, high school and the higher secondary sections.
It was a pleasant gathering with an overload of emotions as all the ex-teachers got to meet each other after years and felt acknowledged for their contribution.
