Spiritual Enrichment for Deacons’ Families

Spiritual Enrichment for Deacons’ Families

As part of the Proximate Preparation for the Priestly Ordination of the Archdiocesan Deacons, the Pastoral Institute organized Spiritual Enrichment Program for the family members of the 6 deacons who are presently participating in the 46th Pastoral Enrichment Program at the Institute. Some relatives and neighbors also participated in the same. It commenced with fellowship tea and welcome. Fr. Romeu conducted the initial prayer. Thereafter, the Director Fr. Simião Fernandes gave some orientation for the Proximate Preparation as well for the Ordination in form of some do’s and don’ts which was supplemented by the other staff members through the sharing of personal experiences. After snacks and refreshments, Fr. Mario Costa gave an inspiring and practical reflection which exhorted the participants to focus on spiritual preparation, to mend broken relationships and to support the deacon even after ordination through family prayer. The reflection was followed by an hour of Eucharistic Adoration led by the Director. The family members were given special moments to kneel closer to the Blessed Sacrament along with the deacon and pray for him more fervently. The Adoration had a personal touch and was soul uplifting. Next, the deacons took the Oath of Fidelity in the presence of the Director, who was given the delegation to witness the same by the Diocesan Authorities. The day’s program ended with a fellowship lunch.
