St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa, observes World Suicide Prevention Day

The Department of Psychology in collaboration with the Wellness Centre of St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa, observed World Suicide Prevention Day with a series of thoughtful and engaging activities.

The highlight of the program was an address by the resource person, Dr. Dhume, who spoke on the importance of reaching out and helping individuals see the light amidst their struggles. He emphasized that changing the narrative around suicide and mental health is a vital step towards building a compassionate and supportive community.

Students of the Department added vibrancy to the event through a street play, dance performances, poetry recitation, and interactive games that brought to life the theme and sentiments of the occasion. An affirmation tree, along with a number of surprise activities, encouraged participation and reflection among students and staff alike. The program was met with enthusiastic response, creating awareness while also spreading hope, positivity, and resilience. The event concluded on a note of success, reinforcing the collective commitment of the institution to mental health and well-being.
