The 1st All Goa 5.3ft 7-a-Side Altar Servers Football Tournament was successfully organized by the Holy Trinity Church Altar Servers, Benaulim, in association with the Holy Trinity Parish Youth. The tournament commenced on 10th May 2026 at the SAG Ground, Vaddie, Benaulim, and concluded with a grand finale on 31st May 2026 under floodlights.
The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from 40 teams representing various parishes across Goa. The event was organized with the aim of promoting unity, brotherhood, sportsmanship, discipline, and faith among altar servers.
The opening ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Mr. Warren Alemao, who officially declared the tournament open. Throughout the tournament, several exciting matches were played, eventually leading to the quarterfinals featuring eight top teams from across the state.
The semifinalists included: • Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Ambaulim
• Our Lady of Fatima Church, Dicarpale
• Holy Spirit Church, Margao
• Jesus, Mary and Joseph Church, Nuvem
The grand final was played between Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Ambaulim and Our Lady of Fatima Church, Dicarpale. After a thrilling and closely contested match, the game ended in a draw and was decided through a tie-breaker. Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Ambaulim emerged as Champions by successfully converting two penalties.
Holy Spirit Church, Margao secured the third place in the tournament.
The tournament also featured several individual awards, including:
• Best Player – Casroy Fernandes (St. Francis Xavier Church, Velim)
• Best Goalkeeper -Norwin Colaco ( Jesus, Mary and Joseph Church, Nuvem)
• Best Defender – Presley Faleiro (Holy Spirit Church, Margao)
• Best Midfielder – Warren Vaz (St. Francis Xavier Church, Macasana)
• Best Forward – Shannoy Rebello (St. Sebastian Chapel, Benaulim)
• Best Disciplined Team – Our Lady of Fatima Church, (Cotto De Fatorpa)
A special Brotherhood Match was held between the Holy Trinity Parish Youth, Benaulim and the Priests, bringing the tournament to a joyful and entertaining conclusion. In which the Youth were victorious.
The entire tournament was a tremendous success and received overwhelming support from priests, parishioners, players, volunteers and football lovers from across Goa. It served as a wonderful platform for Altar Servers to showcase their sporting talents while strengthening friendship, unity, and faith.
The organizers express heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed towards the successful completion of this historic event and look forward to organizing an even bigger and better tournament in the future.
