Parish Youth of Mapusa organised Blood Donation Camp
in collaboration with Asilo Hospital Mapusa
\”Every blood donor is a hero\”.
The blood donation camp organised by St . Jerome’s Parish Youth Group was held on 10th March 2024. It was a good response, with a turnout of over 42 donors from the community. It started at 9:30 am, and was held at the Lower Complex Hall of St. Jerome Church. The event was organized in collaboration with Asilo Hospital, Mapusa and aimed to address the ongoing shortage of blood supplies in hospitals. Donors underwent a quick screening process to ensure their eligibility before donating blood. Around 15 donors were rejected based on various medical grounds, the total of actual donors were 27. The atmosphere was lively, with our Mapusa Parish Youth participating as volunteers, from registration to providing refreshments and support to the donors throughout the camp.
The donated blood will be invaluable in saving lives and supporting medical treatments for patients in need. The success of this camp highlights the generosity and community spirit of our donors, who selflessly help others in times of need. We also received great reviews from our donors and appreciation from the hospital staff. The camp concluded at 1.00 pm with a Vote of Thanks by Mr. Stanislaus Borges, the Event in-charge followed by mementos for the medical staff presented to them by Mr. Claude Braganza (Vice President) and Fr. Agustin Alfonso (Priest Youth Animator). Overall it was a gratifying and impactful event. Dear people of Goa, your participation in future camps can make a profound difference in someone\’s life. Remember, \”Once a donor, always a lifesaver!”
