St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa, Goa, celebrated its 59th Annual Day on January 25, 2025. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Rev. Fr. Dr. Romeo Monteiro, Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman, and a renowned musician. The event began with a formal welcome by the college administrator, Rev. Fr. Antonio Salema. The Acting Principal, Ms. Ursula Barreto, listed the college’s achievements in academics, sports, and co-curricular activities, highlighting the awards of excellence in sports and inter-collegiate cultural events and also commended the faculty for significant achievements with regards to research and publication. She attributed the success to the collective efforts of staff & students. Students who excelled in academic and extracurricular activities during the last academic year were felicitated during the prize distribution ceremony.
Rev. Fr. Dr. Romeo Monteiro, the Chief Guest, in his address encouraged the audience to identify their passions and work towards them, stressing that everyone is capable of achieving great things, provided they believe in the potential gifted to them by the Creator. He concluded by urging everyone to contribute goodness to the world.
The General Secretary, Mr. Stephen Fernandes, delivered the vote of thanks, and the formal function concluded with the singing of the College Anthem. The celebration continued with a variety entertainment program, where students showcased their talents through Koli dance, Drama titled beyond the Horizon, Acapella and Mando. The event concluded with the singing of the National Anthem, fostering a spirit of unity among all attendees. The Annual Day celebration served as a wonderful platform to celebrate the college’s progress and to showcase the students’ talents.
