12 new priests were ordained for the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman , at Se Cathedral, Old Goa, on 29th April 2026, at 3.30pm, by His Eminence Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrao in the presence of Auxiliary Bishop Simiao Fernandes and Bishop Agnelo Pinheiro , Bishop of Sindhudurg .
In a joyous celebration attended by many priests, religious and lay faithful, the Deacons Cidroy Fernandes from Mandrem, Bevan Rebello from Galgibaga, Aaron Dsouza from Colvale , Nion Colaco from Nuvem, Canjoy Fernandes from Velim, Valancio Fernandes from Santa Cruz, Elidio Noronha from Salvador De Mundo, Lindon Sequeira from Navelim, Dion Rodrigues from Navelim, Sanvy Cardoso from Utorda, Jofhuo Fernandes from Cansaulim and Aestrony Costa from Betalbatim were ordained as priests and posted in different parishes.
In his homily His Eminence Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrao highlighted the role of a good shepherd and how he entrusted this role of a good shepherd to his Disciples. He reminded the priestly candidates that Jesus calls us to be Good shepherds like him to the people who will be entrusted under their care. This, he suggested they could do by becoming the heart, hands and eyes of Jesus. He pointed out that Jesus’ heart is full of Love and concern for others, especially those in need, he is sensitive towards the needs of those around him. Secondly he urged them to be the hands of Jesus. explaining to them that Jesus’ hands are those of Service. he urged them to be at the service of others. Finally he emphasised that their eyes should have the merciful sight of Jesus. Jesus looked at others with eyes of mercy and this should be an example for us too. He invited them to be priests of Love, Service and Mercy towards those under their care.
The Newly Ordained Priests will now take charge of their new assignments and were presented with their letter of appointment by Auxiliary Bishop Simiao Fernandes. Fr. Cidroy Fernandes, is appointed Assistant to the Parish Priest of the Church of St. Jerome, Mapusa, Bevan Rebello, Assistant to the Parish Priest of the Church of Holy Cross, Quepem, Aaron Dsouza, Assistant to the Parish Priest of the Church of St. Joseph , Usgao, Nion Colaco Assistant to the Parish Priest of the Church of Our lady of Piety, Piedade, Divar, Canjoy Fernandes, Assistant to the Parish Priest of the Church of St. Alex, Calangute, Valancio Fernandes Assistant to the Parish Priest of the Church of Mother of God, Saligao, Elidio Noronha Assistant to the Parish Priest of the Church of Our lady of Health , Sancoale , Lindon Sequeira Assistant to the Parish Priest of the Church of St. Michael, Taleigao, Dion Rodrigues Secretary of the Pastoral Institute, St Pius X, Old Goa, Sanvy Cardoso Assistant to the Parish Priest of the Church of St. Christopher, Tivim , Jofhuo Fernandes Assistant to the Parish Priest of the Church of St. Theresa of Jesus, Chaudi, Canacona and Aestrony Costa, Assistant to the Parish Priest of the Church of St. Jerome , Mapusa.
His Eminence Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrao congratulated the newly ordained priests and offered his best wishes and blessings to them.
Fr. Snyter Pereira was the Master of Ceremony for the ordination whereas Fr. Candido Fernandes took care of the Liturgy. Fr. Romeo Monteiro led the Choir during the Mass.
