The Our Lady of Candelaria Church, Baina-Vasco, celebrated its Annual Thanksgiving Mass at the Mother Teresa Cross, Sector 7, on 28 October 2025. The Holy Eucharist was presided over by Rev. Fr. Domnic D’Souza, the Parish Priest.
In his homily, Fr. Domnic invited the faithful to emulate the virtues of St. Teresa of Calcutta, particularly her humility, compassion for the poor, and profound love for the Holy Eucharist.
At the conclusion of the celebration, a first-class relic of St. Teresa — a piece of the saree she had worn — was placed for veneration. The relic was presented to Fr. Domnic by a Missionaries of Charity sister during his pastoral ministry at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Ambaulim.
The Mother Teresa Cross derives its name from St. Teresa of Calcutta, who visited the slum area during her trip to Goa and laid its foundation stone on 28 October 1986. The construction of the cross was completed on 16 January 1977.
