Laity Day, was celebrated on September 28th, at St. Andrew’s Church in Vasco on October 5th, 2025. The event united representatives from various associations in the parish. The celebration began with a Mass led by our Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Anthony Vaz. This was followed by a fellowship gathering at the church hall. The fellowship began with the lighting of a lamp, a talk by Fr. Kenneth Teles, the Episcopal Vicar, and a cultural program featuring performances by Priests, Religious and Parishioners. During the fellowship, all attendees placed flowers of various fragrances and colours on a cross, symbolising how the lay associations enhance the beauty of St. Andrew’s Parish, much like flowers in a garden. Fr. Kenneth in his talk encouraged the lay faithful to be the leaven in society and to collaborate in building the church. He referenced Lumen Gentium, emphasising that through Baptism, we become the People of God and share in Christ’s three-fold mission of Priest, Prophet, and King. He reminded everyone that those not in the Holy Order can still transform society by living saintly lives and being examples of Christ’s teachings. The fellowship concluded with warm camaraderie over snacks and tea.
