Archdiocese of Goa and Daman gets Five new priests
Archdiocese of Goa and Daman was blessed with Five new priests after the Priestly Ordination of diocesan Deacons Melito D’Costa, Clive Diniz, Alvison Baltazar Fernandes, Kevin Fernandes and Elroy Francis da Gama, at See Cathedral, Old Goa, on 28th April 2022, at 4pm.
In a joyous celebration presided over by Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrao and accompanied by over 100 priests the Five deacons were ordained priests for the Service of the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman. Deacons Melito D\’Costa from Varca, Clive Diniz from Collem, Kevin Fernandes from Navelim, Alvison Baltazar Fernandes from Morjim and Elroy Francis da Gama from Moira expressed their desire to be ordained priests before the Archbishop and the Faithful.
In his homily the the Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrao highlighted on the threefold role of a priest. He said that a Priest is a Minister of the word of God, who proclaims and lives by the word. Secondly he is a Minister of the Sacrament who shares the sacramental graces with his people and finally he is a Minister of Service, highlighting the Social or communitarian aspect of his Ministry. The same points were highlighted on the theme of the Ordination Liturgy.
The Newly Ordained Priests will now take charge of their new assignments, Fr. Elroy is appointed Assistant to the Parish Priest of Saligao Church, Fr. Melito is appointed Assistant to the Parish Priest of Grace Church, Margao, Fr. Clive is appointed as Prefect of Discipline at Saligao Seminary, Fr. Alvison is appointed Assistant to the Parish Priest at Holy Spirit Church, Margao and Fr. Kevin is appointed Assistant to the Parish Priest at Merces Church.
