Diploma Day Held for Liturgical Music Courses

The Committee for Formation in Liturgical Music organised the Diploma Day marking the successful conclusion of the Courses in Liturgical Music conducted for the Margao Deanery and for the Panjim Parish, during the Pastoral Year 2025-26.

A total of 81 participants successfully completed the course which comprised of 20 hours of study and practical demonstrations. Aming the topics covered were Liturgy, Teachings of Vatican II, Active Participation, Phrasing, Use of Musical Instruments, Rules for Goa, Sacraments, Parts of the Mass, Singing Techniques, Gregorian Chant, Liturgy of the Hours, Singing Psalms, etc. Candidates were awarded diplomas by Archbishop Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrão at the Archbishop’s House on 10 May 2026, following the celebration of the Solemn Sunday Vespers presided over by the Cardinal.

The Cardinal highlighted the importance of liturgical music in enhancing prayerful celebrations and encouraging active participation in the Sacred Liturgy. The successful completion of the course by the participants reflected their dedication and commitment to serving the Church through sacred music.
