Ekvottachi Sanz at Our Lady of Grace Church, Bicholim
The Parishioners of Our Lady of Grace Church, Bicholim, on the occasion of the Feast of Our Lady of Assumption and Independence day, celebrated Ekvottachi Sanz – an evening filled with traditional cultural programmes and games played in the good olden days, under the guidance of the Parish Priest Rev. Fr Caetano Dourado and Asst Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Soccoro Rebello.
The evening witnessed enthusiastic participation from the young as well as the old. Several traditional games suited to all age groups as well as for the married and youth were being played on this day. It was a day of revival of our antique games.
Also on display were a wide variety of traditional sweets prepared by the PPC members in coordination with all members of respective Somudais. How can we forget the mouthwatering sweets mostly prepared of coconut and jaggery, which we ate in our childhood? Nowadays in modern families, we hardly find such sweets being prepared.
All Parishioners were served the traditional sweets such as Xevyo, Pattoleo, Dhone, Ghodxxem, Soji, Alle-belle during the Ekvottachi sanz. By savoring such mouthwatering traditional sweets, our memories were taken to our childhood.
Youngsters and youth displayed several traditional dances such as Fisherfolk dance, Vavrradeanche koxtt. Young children also enacted roles of Poder, flower seller, doctor, and fisherwoman.
It was an evening to remember.
