Genesis – Where Women Rise Together programme was held on 28th November 2025 at Lar de Estudantes, Altinho, Panaji. It was a meaningful and joy-filled gathering, bringing 120 women together from 32 parishes across Goa to reflect on their shared role in the Church and society. The day began with registration at 9:30 a.m. followed by a warm welcome by Rhea Dias, host for the day who brought energy and enthusiasm to the event. A prayer service followed, setting a spiritual tone for the day. It was a reflective moment for all to come together in faith and seek God’s guidance.
The first session featured Ms Lavina Soares, an accomplished singer and performer. With grace and warmth, she delivered a beautiful rendition of “What a Wonderful World”* and shared personal life experiences that encouraged women to remain grounded in faith and confident in their own journeys.
Fr Jorge Fernandes director Of DWCG, then led a session on ‘The Vision and Mission of the Women’s Commission’, outlining the purpose and importance of forming women’s commissions at the parish level. His insights were both encouraging and informative.
Live testimonies from the parishes of Chicalim, Caranzalem, and Taleigao gave real-life examples of active women’s cells and how they function to support and build parish life. Ms Elaine Dias conducted a session titled ‘Rooting Strength in Parish Cell Meetings’ where she offered clear strategies and motivation to begin and sustain vibrant women’s groups in the parishes. Mr Alan D’Souza followed with his session ‘Lead. Communicate. Grow.’ Through lively action songs and group engagement, he gave practical insights into leadership and effective communication, leaving the audience energised and smiling.
Later, Ms Cecille Fernandes, a dance instructor, led a relaxation and movement session, with gentle music and expressive movements, she helped participants relax, reflect, and rejoice. The event ended with lots of photographs capturing memories and a sumptuous lunch shared in fellowship. The day was a wonderful celebration of unity, purpose, and sisterhood, an encouraging step forward for women rising together
