The ‘Romi Misa-Gronth’ that was recently released on 3rd December 2025 on the occasion of the Solemnity of St. Francis Xavier is to be initiated in the homes and parishes during the days of Advent and during the Ordinary Time of the Liturgical Year till the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday. After this preliminary period of initiation the date of uniform launch all over the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman will be Ash Wednesday (i.e. 18th February 2026) as previously informed at various other forums.
The pastors of parishes and those assigned with the responsibility of the care of the faithful are requested to ensure that those under their care are properly instructed and prepared by taking necessary steps for their formation during the period of initiation. The Diocesan Centre for Liturgy has published a booklet ‘Misache Somarombnnechi Manddavoll – Bhavartheanchea Upeoga Pasot’. It is most desirable that a copy of this booklet reaches every home so that it could remain in every household as a ‘family booklet’. It will enable the members of the faithful to acquaint themselves with the changes that have happened to some prayers and use the ‘family booklet’ as a pastoral aid at the celebration of the Eucharist from Ash Wednesday onwards. The pastors are nevertheless encouraged to have sufficient number of copies in the church so that the Eucharistic celebration is a truly participative, full, conscious, active, devout and communal celebration for the faithful as Sacrosanctum Concilium warmly envisaged it. In this same line, the publication of two other booklets, ‘Misache Somarombnnechi Manddavoll – Soho-Somarombpeanchea Upeoga Pasot’ and ‘Bhurgeank Mhoje-xim Yeunk Diat – Bhurgeanchea Misache Somarombnnechi Manddavoll’, when made easily available and in sufficient numbers, especially during the celebration of the Eucharist for children will act as an encouraging pastoral aid for the participative and active participation of the children.
May the ‘Romi Misa-Gronth’ and other related booklets help the Church of Goa to renew itself anew.
Fr. Afonso Mendonça,
Director,
Diocesan Centre for Liturgy.
