On the occasion of the Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross, Sunday 14th September 2025, the the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman celebrated the jubilee of suffering. On this occasion the jubilee, Eucharistic celebration was celebrated at our lady of Rosary Church Caranzalem at 10:15am, by His Eminence Archbishop Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrao together with the Parish Priest Fr. Pio Almeida and his Assistants Priests, also Fr. Jorge Fernandes Director of dcla, Mr. Colin Pereira and Mrs. Ninfa Da Silva lay assistant to the Diocesan Centre for Lay Apostolate, and other lay faithful joined the celebration. Archbishop called the faithful to take up their cross as a sign of hope in all their sufferings, sickness and pain. To make Jesus as a source of healing and redemption in restoring and receiving our health. He invited faithful to support one another in each others suffering and lessen the burden of pain and loneliness. He challenged them With the power of God’s word to be a sign of hope to those in distress and pain, in their own family, somudai, parish and in the society..
On this occasion of jubilee of suffering his Eminence Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrao also released the book titled “Unlocking the Secrets of Suffering” written by Dr. Noemia Mascarenhas in the presence of the Parish Priest Fr. Pio Almeda and Dcla Director Fr. Jorge Fernandes, other priests and lay faithful. He called people to read this book and allow Jesus to be their healer and a message of hope.
He also prayed a special prayer over the sick people, layed his hands and blessed them.
Mrs. Ninfa D’Silva explained the purpose of the book, thanked all the gathered for the celebration and also writer Dr. Noemia Mascarenhas for her hard work and invited Archbishop, Priests and lay faithful to release the book.
“Let us work together with care and compassion towards those who suffer.”
